David Quick founded Isle of Wight Farm in 1978 on the premise of breeding horses for type, temperament, trainability, confirmation, movement and quality; all attributes of the modern performance horse. Beginning originally with classic thoroughbred lines, David has worked hard to develop what is now an outstanding Holsteiner broodmare band which has produced many exeptional horses.
The stud, named after David's talented thoroughbred show jumper Isle of Wight, is a family run business with David’s son Lorne and daughter Aspen following closely in his footsteps with their interest in competitive show jumping and the breeding of performance horses. Isle of Wight took David from Pony Club to the long list for the Montreal Olympics in show jumping. Sadly retired due to injury before the Games, he is now buried along with two of David's stallions Naphro and Grand Flaneur, under the huge willow tree on the property.
Horses are raised in the picturesque and relaxed atmosphere of Isle of Wight Farm situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, a renowned horse breeding region in Victoria. As the horses are born and grow in the tree lined paddocks they begin to experience all parts of daily life from passing traffic to the pet goat and dogs all of which begin their education as the ultimate riding horse.
Isle of Wight Farm had a very successful sale at their first Performance Horse and Broodm are Auction. Please click on the highlighted text below to go to our auction page for details.
